This beautiful and historic hotel, built in 1939 by the Great Northern Railway, is the solitary reason why Amtrak's Empire Builder offers a flag stop in Essex. The hotel will provide a van to pick up and drop off Amtrak passengers at the nearby "platform," which is really just the end of a dirt road!
