I found this hotel a good alternative regarding price, location and amenities to staying in NYC. An apartment style hotel with living room-kitchen (refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher)area and bedroom. A grocery store (so you can stock the frig) is two blocks away. The Residence Inn is about three blocks from the Metro North/Amtrak New Rochelle station. Great express service to/from Grand Central Terminal and some Northeast Corridor service.
