Seven railfans from Nebraska took Amtrak's Empire Builder from Chicago to Portland and spent one day at the Izaak Walton in Essex, MT. The rooms were comfortable and the staff friendly. Rental cars are available for seeing Glacier National Park. Helper engines on the BNSF are stationed there. Lots of action!

What a place. an Amtrak flag stop, van pick up,old Railroad Hotel, great lobby, what a fire place, excellent dining room, Flagstop Bar and great rooms. I always go trackside since I'm up there to watch trains. A most special place!``````Chris
